50th Anniversary Celebration

MTU Preschool is excited to celebrate its 50th Anniversary this year. Special events are planned to celebrate the schools success throughout the school year.

Parent Meetings

In that MTU Preschool is a cooperative preschool, parent meetings are an important opportunity to build community and maintain preschool operations. Parent meetings are held once each term. The fall parent meeting is combined with a welcome potluck dinner; sign up for committees is held at that time. The spring parent meeting includes elections for the preschool board. Meetings are led by the board and the teachers. Parent input is encouraged!

Winter Music Program

Music is an important part of the preschool experience. The Winter Music program provides the children a wonderful opportunity to perform different holiday songs for parents, families, and friends.

Cabin Fever Carnival

The Preschool holds its Cabin Fever Carnival annually during the Winter Term. This is an unique event for the young members of our community. For the past several years the carnival has been held at the Rozsa Center on the campus of Michigan Tech. There are many games and activities for children to enjoy, typically including face painting, a cake walk, balloons and prizes. There is also a silent auction featuring an array of themed baskets.

Art Fair

The Art Fair in late spring is an opportunity for the children to show off some of the beautiful art projects that they have completed throughout the school year. Families are invited to attend and celebrate their child’s achievements.

Field Trips

The teaching staff arranges at least one field trip per term for the children. Past trips have included leaf hunts, visits to a pumpkin patch, hayrides, visits to local greenhouses, and horse drawn carriage rides to view the ice statues at Michigan Tech’s Winter Carnival. Parents are always welcome to join in the fun. Volunteers are needed to help with transportation in some cases.
