3-Year-Old Class
Our curriculum for three-year-olds includes hands-on experiences with the alphabet, geometric shapes, colors, and themes that include five senses, animals, seasons, and holidays. In addition to enriching science activities, show-and-tell, and daily art projects, MTU preschool also offers field trips as part of the learning experience. Field trips may include visiting local greenhouses, tours of Winter Carnival, and a fall walk and/or hayride. Music is an important part of the daily routine in the three-year-old class. Children sing daily as a group and perform a music program for parents in December. Near the end of the school year, there is an art show for displaying many of the projects created by the children.

Children have the opportunity for free play, circle time, group play, arts and crafts, and outdoor play/large muscle development. The classroom includes a dress-up play area, toy area, art area, blocks, a climber, and other activity areas. Painting and play dough are offered to the children regularly. The students play on an outdoor playground throughout the entire school year.
Three-year-old classes are limited to 16 students to keep the student:teacher ratio at 8:1 or less. To be eligible for enrollment, children need to be three years old by December 1st of the school year. Children must be toilet-trained before school begins.
